Independence Day Celebrations in NYC

Independence Day is next Monday, July 4 — a day to commemorate the 13 colonies’ adoption of the Declaration of Independence. It is also a day to spend time with family and friends, enjoying fun summer activities such as picnics, parades, concerts, time at the pool or beach, or simply relaxing at home.  If you are still looking for something to do, we have a few ideas on how you can celebrate our nation’s birthday.

Join the fun at the 46th annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks event. Find the map of official viewing points here. Or head to the beach and check out the Coney Island Fourth of July Fireworks between West 10th Street and West 12th Street (in Coney Island Beach & Boardwalk), Brooklyn.

Find other fun activities at TimeOut here. And if you are looking to start celebrating early, check out the Central Astoria LDC's Annual Independence Day Celebration at Great Lawn (in Astoria Park), Queens TONIGHT (Wednesday, June 29), from 7:30 p.m. – 9:45 p.m. The event will feature a free concert followed by fireworks!

We wish everyone a safe and fun Independence Day! Learn more about the history of the observance at History.com.
