TCAH Celebrates Grand Opening of New Transitional Facility

Broadway Stages was honored to partner with The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH) for almost a year, welcoming a cast of volunteers to our Canarsie warehouse where food was collected and distributed to those in need. In the year since COVID-19 began to impact New York City, TCAH amassed over 250 partnerships and provided enough food for more than 20 million meals — more than six times the capacity of a typical year for the organization.

Today, we join TCAH in celebrating the grand opening of their new facility in East New York on Berriman Street in Brooklyn, where they will continue to fight for food justice by helping to meet the needs of those impacted by food insecurity. This facility will serve as a transitional space until they are able to establish a permanent distribution center. The new intermediate facility provides 19,000 sq. ft. of food storage potential, including refrigeration and freezers, dry storage and packing areas, office and meeting rooms, and a loading dock. Each of these elements will allow TCAH to store and distribute more nutritious food with easier access to neighbors who need it in Brooklyn.

Please join us in congratulating TCAH on the opening of their transitional space and wishing them well as they continue the search for a permanent facility. We offer our sincere thanks to TCAH, Dr. Melody Samuels, Founder and Executive Director, and the many volunteers who make possible the daily miracle of feeding those in need. It is an honor to be part of a movement that is making a tangible difference in our community. Please join us in supporting TCAH – every dollar, volunteer hour and voice for food justice makes a world of difference right here in Brooklyn.
