Celebrating National Arts & Humanities Month | October 2020

The largest annual celebration for the arts and humanities is held during the month of October, National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM) is observed from coast-to-coast, and the importance of culture in America is celebrated in communities large and small. NAHM was launched by Americans for the Arts more than 30 years ago as National Arts Week in honor of the twentieth anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1993, it was reestablished by Americans for the Arts and national arts partners as a month-long celebration.

The arts and humanities play an important role in our lives—they provide enrichment and strive to provide enlightening and transformational experiences to the broadest possible cross section of the American public. The arts allow us to explore ideas, express emotions, and better appreciate cultures from around the world. National Arts & Humanities Month is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the positive impact the arts bring to our schools and communities. Take a look at our blog about National Arts in Education Week to learn more about the benefits associated with arts education. The advantages of the arts go beyond the classroom. According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, the arts and culture sector is a $730 billion industry, which represents 4.2 percent of the nation’s GDP.  This fact sheet provides information about the value derived from the arts in our state alone.

From economic and educational benefits to entertaiment, supporting the arts is important to our community. Read what the Americans for the Arts have to say. Once you understand the foundational value the arts bring to our state, we are certain you will become a supporter.  Now more than ever, the arts are needed in our school curriculum, in remote learning situations and in everyday family time.  As a company in television and film industry we understand the positive impact the arts provide and are working with our clients to safely get back to filming to deliver entertainment and jobs that fuel our economy and allow individuals to follow their passion.  Join us in celebrating the arts and humanities.
