Inside Broadway Stages | What's Filming

We have an enviable number of talented performers, directors, writers, producers, and other hardworking individuals and teams developing entertaining and thought-provoking content in our soundstages. Learn about some of them in this month's roundup.

"Harlem" to End With Third Season

All good things must come to an end, and we are sad to report that the current season of Prime Video's "Harlem" will be its last.

Meagan Good, Grace Byers, Shoniqua Shandai, and Jerrie Johnson star as four 30-something Black women who support each other as they look for love and professional fulfillment in New York City. The accomplished cast also includes Tyler Lepley in a main role and Whoopi Goldberg and Jasmine Guy in recurring roles.

Filmed at our Foster Avenue studio in Brooklyn, "Harlem" premiered in 2021 and is currently airing its third and final season. This season features more stars than ever, including Robin Givens and Gail Bean as mother and daughter Jacqueline and Eva; Logan Browning as Portia, a childhood friend of Ian's (Lepley) who has recently returned to Harlem; and Kofi Siriboe as Seth, a professional baseball player and love interest to Quinn (Byers).

Series creator Tracy Oliver recently sat down for an interview with BlackTree Media to talk about the new season. She said she was surprised at how the show is ultimately ending, as she was not sure how the characters would wind up when she first began writing the show.

"The beautiful part about this show as a writer was that I just kind of evolved with the story and the characters and where we were in the world… 'Oh, we're in a pandemic. So let's introduce mental health storylines, because we're all going a little crazy right now.' And the fertility stuff was coming up in the room a lot because when you are in your mid to late 30s, it starts to come up a lot with women. So these are just organic conversations that I just put in there."

Oliver also said that she is working on additional shows that she hopes will be picked up and sequels to two of her popular films — 2017's "Girl's Trip," and 2022's "The Blackening."

We are sad to say goodbye to Camille, Quinn, Angie, Tye, and Ian, but we are so proud of the cast and crew for their hard work producing three seasons of this critically acclaimed series.

The Hollywood Reporter Includes Two Broadway Stages Productions Among its 31 Most Anticipated Scripted TV Shows of 2025

We have several new projects in the works at our facilities, and we are thrilled that two of them (one a comedy and one a drama) have been named by The Hollywood Reporter in its list of the most anticipated shows coming this year.

First the comedy: Last year we provided ancillary space and facilitated filming of the pilot episode of "The Chair Company," the latest project from Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin. HBO has since picked it up for a full season. Robinson and Kanin met as writers at "Saturday Night Live" then went on to create Netflix's sketch comedy series "I Think You Should Leave" and Comedy Central's sitcom "Detroiters." The duo's new show will star Robinson as a man who suffers an embarrassing incident at work that leads him to investigate a far-reaching conspiracy. Other series regulars will include Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price, and Joseph Tudisco.

"The Chair Company" also made the Paste Magazine list of most anticipated TV shows of 2025.

The second show to make the cut on The Hollywood Reporter list is "Long Bright River," a Peacock limited series based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Liz Moore. Amanda Seyfried executive produces and stars as Mickey, a police officer who patrols a Philadelphia neighborhood hard-hit by the opioid crisis. After a series of murders in the neighborhood, she realizes that her personal history might be tied to the case.

Starring alongside Seyfried will be Nicholas Pinnock, Ashleigh Cummings, Callum Vinson, John Doman, Patch Darragh, Matthew Del Negro, Harriet Sansom Harris, Perry Mattfeld, Dash Mihok, and Britne Oldford.

"And Just Like That…" Welcomes Major Guest Star for Season Three

When "And Just Like That..." returns for its third season this year, the "Sex and the City" reboot will include a legendary New Yorker among its cast. Broadway icon Patti LuPone will be joining Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) for two episodes of the HBO Max hit.

LuPone will play the mother of Giuseppe (Sebastiano Pigazzi), who is the boyfriend of Charlotte's friend Anthony (Mario Cantone). LuPone told Andy Cohen on SiriusXM's Andy Radio that her character is "Mario's nemesis." Pigazzi has been bumped up to a series regular, a sign that their relationship will be a focus of the new season.

Over her decades-long career, LuPone has won three Tony Awards out of eight nominations. She was most recently seen in the first season of the Disney+ hit "Agatha All Along," playing Lilia Calderu, a 450-year-old witch in Agatha's coven.

Another new joiner is Kristen Schaal, who recently wrapped up her role as "the guide" on FX's vampire comedy "What We Do in the Shadows." As we reported back in August, there will be many more new faces when "And Just Like That..." comes back. Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, and Logan Marshall-Green will appear in recurring guest roles, while Cheri Oteri and Rosie O'Donnell have also joined the cast.

Rosemarie DeWitt will return as Aidan's (John Corbett) ex-wife Kathy. We can also confirm that Dolly Wells, who plays Miranda's colleague and potential love interest Joy, will be elevated to a series regular this season. Sarita Choudhury, Corbett, David Eigenberg, Evan Handler, and Nicole Ari Parker will also return for the upcoming season.

If you need to catch up on the first two seasons before new episodes air, you can watch "And Just Like That..." on HBO's streaming platform Max.

MGM+ Announces "Godfather of Harlem" Return Date

On April 13, the critically acclaimed historical crime drama "Godfather of Harlem" will finally return for its fourth season, more than two years after the end of its third. The 10-episode season will be dedicated to series co-creator Paul Eckstein, who passed away unexpectedly in 2023.

"Godfather of Harlem" follows crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker) as he tries to regain control of Harlem in the 1960s after spending 11 years at Alcatraz. Over the course of the show, Bumpy has gone up against members of all five of New York's most prominent crime families, the Cuban Mafia, and the CIA. When we last saw Bumpy in the emotional season three finale, he was in mourning following the assassination of civil rights icon Malcolm X (Jason Alan Carvell).

As previously reported, Bumpy will take on a new rival in the upcoming season — the famed drug kingpin Frank Lucas. Denzel Washington memorably portrayed Lucas in the 2007 film "American Gangster," with a focus on his rise through the criminal ranks of Harlem in the 1970s. Rome Flynn will play Lucas in the 1960s as he arrives in New York City and shakes up the status quo.

Flynn is known for portraying Zende Forrester Dominguez on "The Bold and the Beautiful," a role that earned him a Daytime Emmy Award in 2018. He also played law student Gabriel Maddox on ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder" and most recently appeared in a recurring role on NBC's "Chicago Fire" as firefighter Derrick Gibson.

Flynn is not the only new joiner. Michael Benjamin Washington ("American Auto") will appear in the new season as the legendary writer and activist James Baldwin. Newcomer Devin Kessler will portray political activist and Black Panther member Afeni Shakur, who would later give birth to the iconic rapper Tupac Shakur.

Returning cast members include Antoinette Crowe-Legacy as Bumpy's daughter Elise, Ilfenesh Hadera as Bumpy's wife Mayme, Vincent D'Onofrio as Vincent "Chin" Gigante, Lucy Fry as Stella Gigante, and Erik LaRay Harvey as Bumpy's trusted enforcer Del Chance.

"Elsbeth" Continues to Attract Famous Guest Stars

Following a six-week hiatus, "Elsbeth" returned last week with the ninth episode of season two starring Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace") as the founder of a holistic wellness center suspected of murder. The CBS hit picked up where it left off, with the quirky attorney-turned-investigator Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) dealing with the fallout of a vengeful and powerful judge (Michael Emerson) exposing distressing details of a case from her past.

This week's episode called "Finance Bros" will star Alan Ruck ("Succession") as identical twin brothers who are also Wall Street business partners.

We are excited to announce even more guest stars who will appear this season. Comedian and singer Tracey Ullman will play Marilyn, a psychic whose wealthy clients live and die by her advice. Jordana Brewster ("The Fast and the Furious") will portray Chloe, a "lifestyle consultant" and escort to the rich and powerful. In addition, Alyssa Milano ("Charmed") will appear as Pupetta DeMarco, a former mafia princess turned restaurateur.

We reported in December other guest stars that will appear in the second half of the season, including Ioan Gruffudd in a Valentine's Day special called "Tiny Town" and Matthew Broderick and his son James Wilkie Broderick in the following episode titled "Foiled Again."

"Elsbeth" also stars Wendell Pierce as police captain C.W. Wagner and Carra Patterson as officer Kaya Blanke. Sullivan Jones joined the new season in a recurring role as the handsome medical examiner Cameron Clayden.

Rebecca Hall Joins the Cast of Ryan Murphy's "The Beauty"

Ryan Murphy is one of the busiest men in Hollywood these days. According to IMDB, the writer, director, and producer has 11 projects in the works, including new seasons of "9-1-1," "9-1-1: Lone Star," "Doctor Odyssey," "American Horror Story," "Monsters," and "The Watcher."

He is also working on several new productions, including "The Beauty," a sci-fi medical show about a sexually transmitted disease that turns people into their perfect selves — at least on the outside. The story is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley, first published in 2016. The series, currently in production, will air on FX and consist of 11 episodes.

As we reported in November, Murphy is reuniting with frequent collaborator Evan Peters, who has appeared in multiple seasons of "American Horror Story" and starred in "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story." Peters also appeared in Murphy's series "Pose," which filmed at our facilities.

Joining Peters in "The Beauty" is actress and filmmaker Rebecca Hall, who is known for her performances in 2011's "The Town" and 2008's "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." She also directed and wrote the screenplay for 2021's critically acclaimed historical drama "Passing." Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope have also been announced as part of the production.

In addition, the creative team is currently holding auditions to bring on even more cast members. Find out here how you can apply.
