The 2025 MediaMKRS Summit is set for Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Paramount Global in New York City. This premier industry event brings together media leaders, employers, union representatives, educators, nonprofits, policymakers, and emerging professionals to shape the future of media and entertainment. With diversity and inclusion at the forefront, the summit tackles the industry's most pressing challenges and fosters solutions for a more equitable workforce.
Why Diversity in Media and Entertainment Matters
The theme of the 2025 MediaMKRS Summit, "Advancing Diversity in Media & Entertainment," is more relevant than ever. The need for meaningful action is critical in an industry facing persistent disparities in representation, automation-driven job shifts, and declining diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The summit provides a platform for industry stakeholders to explore innovative strategies, strengthen workforce development, and push for sustainable diversity initiatives in film, television, and digital media.
What Industry Professionals Say About the MediaMKRS Summit
The inaugural MediaMKRS Summit in 2024 made a lasting impact, sparking meaningful discussions on industry equity. One attendee shared, "The MediaMKRS Summit provided a platform for essential conversations about diversity in media, bringing together voices that are actively shaping the future of entertainment."
What is MediaMKRS?
MediaMKRS is a groundbreaking workforce development initiative under Reel Works, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering young storytellers. Founded in 2019, MediaMKRS partners with the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), the City University of New York (CUNY), major media companies, and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) to train and credential rising talent. By equipping diverse, underrepresented voices with the skills and opportunities to thrive in the media industry, MediaMKRS is not just shaping, but inspiring the future of entertainment.
