MOME Announces $2 Million in Grants for the NYC Women's Fund

The New York Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) is increasing its investment in the NYC Women's Fund for Media, Music and Theatre. Earlier this year, MOME chose 89 projects to receive $2 million via the fund, which marked the third time that awards were granted and brought the total funding to $5.5 million for 246 recipients. This week, MOME announced that a fourth round of grants would soon be rewarded, bringing the city's total investment in women-led projects to $7.5 million for 335 recipients since 2019.

The program, funded by MOME and administered by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), is intended to address the underrepresentation of women in the entertainment industry. Grants are awarded in nine categories: General Music, Theatre Productions, Classical/Jazz/Experimental Music, Fiction Shorts, Documentary Features, Documentary Shorts, Documentary Webisodes/Webseries, Fiction Webisodes/Webseries, and Fiction Features.

All recipients must be residents of New York City, and all projects must prominently feature either a woman's perspective or include meaningful participation by women credited on the project. Potential grantees can find eligibility details and apply by visiting NYFA.org/nycwomensfund. Applications will be accepted through November 1, 2022. Winners will be notified in March 2023, and funded projects must be completed by March 31, 2024. Additional information can be found here.

We are thrilled to support women-led projects and cannot wait to see the amazing artistic creations made possible through these grants.
