What's Filming | Inside Broadway Stages
/We are super proud of all the amazing productions being filmed at our facilities and the role they play in elevating New York's film and television industry and local economy. Here are a few updates on some of the shows and movies that call Broadway Stages home.
Cast of "Fire Island" Honored at the Gotham Awards
Jesse Tyler Ferguson ("Modern Family") presented Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang, and the rest of the "Fire Island" cast with the Ensemble Tribute award at this year's Gotham Awards ceremony. The gay romcom, which includes scenes filmed at one of our facilities in Brooklyn, follows a group of male friends who take a trip to New York's Fire Island, where they party and mingle with wealthier vacationers. It is a modern retelling of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" that gained rave reviews from critics and is now making the rounds as the awards season heats up.
In his acceptance speech, Booster said, "So many of the movies about our community that win awards have been about our trauma, and I am so deeply grateful to be standing here tonight accepting this award for a movie about our joy."
If you haven't seen it yet, "Fire Island" can be streamed through Hulu. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew! We can't wait to see what else is in store for this talented group.
"East New York" on Month-Long Hiatus
One of the most popular new shows this season is CBS's "East New York," a police procedural starring Amanda Warren and Jimmy Smits. The show has aired nine episodes, but fans will have to wait a bit to watch number 10. "East New York" will return with new episodes on Sunday, January 8.
The show centers on the officers and detectives of the NYPD's 74th precinct in Brooklyn. Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood (Warren) leads the precinct with the goal of not only serving and protecting the community, but also becoming a part of it. If you have not seen the show, you have time to catch up by streaming episodes on Paramount+. The last episode that aired on November 27, "When Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth," ended on a cliffhanger, but new episodes will be here before you know it! Be sure to set your calendar for January 8!
Prime Video Announces Return Date for "Harlem"
Prime Video's popular comedy series "Harlem" will return for its second season on February 3. The show is the brainchild of creator, writer, and executive producer Tracy Oliver ("Girls Trip"). Along with the announcement of its return date, Amazon Studios released several first-look images from the new season.
In the first season, viewers met Camille (Meagan Good), Tye (Jerrie Johnson), Quinn (Grace Byers), and Angie (Shoniqua Shandai), four women in their thirties living in Harlem trying to balance love, life, and their careers. Amazon Studios reports that in season two, Camille will try to put the pieces back together after blowing up her career and disrupting her love life. Tye will consider her future, Quinn will go on a journey of self-discovery, and Angie's career will take a promising turn.
The 10-episode first season dropped just over a year ago, so be sure to refresh your memory by rewatching on Prime Video before February 3.
"Entertainment Weekly" Praises "The Good Fight" and "Evil"
We are always proud when one of our productions is recognized with a coveted award or positive press mention. Paramount+ dramas "The Good Fight" and "Evil" recently earned Critics' Choice Awards nominations, and "Entertainment Weekly" has highlighted both shows as great examples of ensemble chemistry. Critic Darren Franich wrote:
“With the winter awards season upon us (we're mostly looking at you, Screen Actors Guild), I hope the voting members find room in their hearts for The Good Fight and Evil, a matched set of pandemonium procedurals, both co-created and showrun by Michelle and Robert King for Paramount+.”
We couldn't agree more! SAG nominations will be announced on January 11, with the ceremony scheduled for February 26. Find out how "The Good Fight" and "Evil" fared at the Critics' Choice Awards on January 15, and check back soon for more news on productions filmed Inside Broadway Stages!
