Broadway Stages Congratulates 73rd Emmy Awards Nominees

The nominees for the 73rd Emmy Awards were announced yesterday with “The Crown” and “The Mandalorian” leading this year’s Emmy race with 24 nods each. The awards ceremony is set to take place in person in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 19. We are thrilled to see productions that utilized our New York soundstages, locations and support space, earn multiple nominations in major categories.

The first season of “The Flight Attendant” was a big hit for HBO. Kaley Cuoco starred as the ditzy flight attendant Cassie Bowden who struggles with addiction while trying to solve the murder of a passenger before she becomes the next victim. The high-flying comedy earned a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, and Cuoco and her castmate Rosie Perez earned nominations for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively. The show garnered nine nominations overall. We cannot wait to see what’s in store for Cassie in season two!

We are also incredibly proud of FX’s “Pose,” which earned nine nominations in its final season, including for Outstanding Drama Series. Stars Billy Porter and Mj Rodriguez will compete in the Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Lead Actress in a Drama Series categories, respectively. Rodriguez makes history as the first transgender woman to earn an Emmy Award nomination in a major acting category. In 2019, Porter become the first openly gay black man to be nominated and win in any lead acting category. Broadway Stages has provided the series with filming locations for three seasons, and we could not be more honored to work with such a diverse and amazingly talented cast and crew.

We are also happy to report that Netflix’s “Halston” earned five nominations, including Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Ewan McGregor who plays the namesake fashion designer. The miniseries was also recognized with nominations for its production design, music, and period-era makeup and costumes.

Lastly, we would like to congratulate Peacock’s “Girls5Eva,” which earned a nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for its pilot, written by Meredith Scardino and executive-produced by Tina Fey. “Girls5Eva” follows a once popular '90s girl group as they attempt a comeback when their only hit song is sampled by a young rap star. Sara Bareilles, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Paula Pell, and Busy Philipps star as the grown women hoping for another chance to make it big in the music industry 20 years after hitting their peak.
