Charity Spotlight | Sunnyside Community Services

From time to time, we can all use a little help. Supporting our neighbors and our broader community, especially those in need, is a longstanding characteristic of American society. Indeed, we seem to be at our best when things are at their worst. Thankfully, there are a number of organizations across the country and in our dear City that exist to and thrive on helping others. One such organization is Sunnyside Community Services (SCS). Since 1974, SCS has been dedicated to helping their community in Queens in any way they can. Their full suite of services ranges from elder care, family support, and children’s programs to most recently offering pop-up COVID-19 vaccination centers. SCS’s core values of commitment, togetherness, and diversity have shaped them into a cornerstone of the community and has allowed them to expand their services and outreach efforts to assist and uplift as many as possible.

Those interested in lending a hand and being a part of this amazing organization can apply to volunteer for a number of roles listed on their website (youth and senior services, friendly visits/walks, spending time with pets, etc.).
