Greenpoint Post Office Dedicated to Former Assemblymember Joe Lentol

Congratulations to former Assemblymember, Joseph R. Lentol, who was recognized this past weekend at a building dedication ceremony in honor of his public service that spanned almost 50 years.  The U.S. Post Office in Greenpoint, located at 66 Meserole Avenue in Brooklyn, was renamed the “Joseph R. Lentol Post Office.” The former Assemblymember represented the 50th Assembly District, comprised of Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Fort Greene, and parts of Clinton Hill, for 48 years.

U.S. House of Representative Carolyn Maloney sponsored the bill to designate the Greenpoint Post Office after the well-known former Assemblymember. “Naming a Post Office for Representative Joseph R. Lentol is entirely appropriate given his distinguished political career and contributions to New York State and country,” said Maloney.

Lentol comes from a political family — his father was State Senator and State Supreme Court Justice Edward S. Lentol, and his grandfather also served in the Assembly. Prior to being elected, Joe Lentol served as an assistant district attorney in Kings County and was elected as head of the Brooklyn Assembly Delegation in 2001.

We thank our former Assemblymember for his longstanding commitment to community service.
