Broadway Stages Extends Lease to The Campaign Against Hunger

In the month of May, as COVID-19 was ravaging our city, Broadway Stages was introduced to Dr. Melony Samuels, Executive Director and Founder of The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH). This organization is one of the most trusted anti-hunger nonprofits working to end hunger and build health in our City.  Since the start of the COVID-19 shutdown, The Campaign Against Hunger has served almost 1 million meals reaching more than 7,000+ families a week. Their impact at this time of enormous need has been significant as the demand for food during the coronavirus has been overwhelming.

When we heard about the amazing work of Dr. Samuels, we donated our facility in Canarsie to serve as a food collection and distribution center.  TCAH had been running the center for three months now but have been unable to find a permanent facility, so we extended the lease for another three months. This will allow TCAH the time to find a permanent location and also continue to serve the thousands in need of food.  We are grateful for the assistance that TCAH is providing to our community and honored to lend a hand.  Read more about TCAH, how to donate, where to find food, or give them a call at 718.773.3551.  Check out the article in Patch by Anna Quinn to learn more about TCAH.
