Business Spotlight | Staten Island Children's Museum

When we resumed our Business Spotlight feature in September, we decided to expand our reach to include non-profit organizations in an effort to help support their mission and share information about the services they are providing during the pandemic.  This week we welcome one such organization, the Staten Island Children’s Museum. 

This Museum is a high-touch, interactive educational playground for children, and while their facility remains closed due to the pandemic, they have created At Home with SICM. This online resource provides instructional videos, printable activity sheets, and more. From fitness, story time, science and visual arts videos, to a family adventure walking guide, and kids cooking recipes.  These free resources help to bring the Museum into your home and provide a fun way to supplement your child’s school curriculum. 

Founded in 1974 and located in a historical setting on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens, the Staten Island Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization that offers 40,000 square feet of interactive exhibits as well as a 4-acre East Meadow, and a picnic and performance pavilion.  While they have had to close their membership registration during the pandemic, we encourage you to take a look at their website to learn about all of the amazing activities they provide to children.  Once they are able to reopen and accept memberships, consider joining and share this fun filled learning experience with your kids or grandkids.  The mission of the Museum is to nurture the creativity and curiosity natural to all children, to recognize and celebrate different learning styles, and to demonstrate vividly that learning can be exciting and fun. As work is underway to resume normal operations, we encourage you to join us in supporting the Musuem. Donations allow the Museum to be a thriving community resource.
