The awards season is officially upon us! This week we got a look at which films will be the Oscar front-runners, as both the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards unveiled their nominees for the 2019 season. Both awards ceremonies also honor the best television productions of the year, and we are thrilled to announce that many programs filmed at our sound stages right here in New York have earned nominations. Additionally, we are happy to report that several stars of shows filmed here at Broadway Stages have been nominated for other projects.

"When They See Us," Ava Duvernay's powerful miniseries that tells the story of the Central Park Five, led the Critics' Choice Awards nominations with six nods, including Best Limited Series. Additionally, five of its stars are up for individual awards: Jharrel Jerome for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, Asante Blackk and John Leguizamo for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, and Marsha Stephanie Blake and Niecy Nash for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.

No surprises there, as the cast was recently honored at the Emmys for Outstanding Casting for a Limited Series, Movie, or Special, and Jerome won for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie. The show's creators spent weeks filming inside Staten Island's shuttered Arthur Kill Correctional Facility, which Broadway Stages converted into a state-of-the-art sound stage several years ago. The actors credited the authentic prison setting for helping them get into character.

As for the Gloden Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which determines the Golden Globe nominations, also gave props to shows we are proud of.

FX's groundbreaking series "Pose" wrapped up its second season in August with a finale filmed at our waterfront in Staten Island. Recently, star Billy Porter made history at the Emmys by winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Now, Porter has been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama, where he will compete against Rami Malek of "Mr. Robot," another show we are happy to say was shot here at Broadway Stages.

Porter is also up for a Critics' Choice Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series. We could not be happier for him! He will compete against Mike Colter of CBS's "Evil" and Paul Giamatti of Showtime's "Billions." Both programs have also filmed here at our sound stages in the past year.

"Pose" is also nominated for a Critics' Choice Award for Best Drama Series. It will compete against another series filmed here, CBS All Access's "The Good Fight." The two programs will also square off in the category Best Actress in a Drama Series, with "The Good Fight" star Christine Baranski competing with "Pose" star Mj Rodriguez.

"The Good Fight" scored multiple Critics' Choice Award nominations for its cast, as Audra McDonald was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and Delroy Lindo has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Lindo will compete against Asia Kate Dillon of "Billions" and Asante Blackk, who has a shot at winning in two categories. He is nominated in this category for NBC's "This Is Us" and is also up for his performance in "When They See Us."

Lastly, we must congratulate Awkwafina who is nominated for a Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress for "The Farewell" as well as a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for the same film. She recently won a Gotham Award for her performance as a young Chinese-American writer who travels to China to say goodbye to her grandmother who has months to live. Awkwafina will soon be starring in Comedy Central's "Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens," and Broadway Stages is thrilled that our studios are playing host to the series. We can't wait until January 2020 to start watching!

Speaking of January, be sure to tune in to NBC on January 5 to watch the Golden Globes, and then exactly a week later (January 12) check out the Critics' Choice Awards on the CW Television Network. Best of luck to all nominees!
