"Goosebumps: The Vanishing" Coming to Disney+ and Hulu on January 10
The second season of "Goosebumps" is almost here! The eight-episode season will feature an entirely new cast and setting as the spooky series based on R.L. Stine's popular teen horror book series of the same name adopts an anthology format like "American Horror Story."
The first season took place in the fictional city of Port Lawrence, British Columbia, and was filmed in various Canadian cities. For the second season, the action has moved to the fictional Grave's End, a stand-in for Brooklyn where the show was filmed.
The new season, inspired by Stine's book "Stay Out of the Basement," stars TV veterans David Schwimmer ("Friends") and Ana Ortiz ("Ugly Betty"). Schwimmer plays Anthony, a recently divorced father who has moved back to his childhood home to take care of his ailing mother. Things get scary when his twin children Devin (Sam McCarthy) and Cece (Jayden Bartels) come to visit. The two teens uncover a dark secret related to the mysterious disappearance of a group of teenagers in 1994, one of whom was Anthony's brother.
Ortiz plays Jen, a police detective who is haunted by the disappearance of her friends decades earlier. She is very protective of the town and her daughter Alex (Francesca Noel), who befriends the twins. The present-day teen friend group also includes Frankie (Galilea La Salvia), her bully boyfriend Trey (Stony Blyden), and CJ (Elijah Cooper).
In October, executive producers Hilary Winston and Rob Letterman joined members of the cast for a panel session at New York Comic Con to talk about the upcoming season. We can't wait to see the final results of their hard work!
Timothée Chalamet Wraps Filming of "Marty Supreme" in New York City
Timothée Chalamet is quickly becoming a holiday tradition. In 2019, Greta Gerwig's "Little Women" opened on Christmas day to stellar reviews. Two weeks ago the Bob Dylan biopic "A Complete Unknown" also opened on Christmas day to critical acclaim and strong numbers at the box office. A year prior "Wonka" opened in mid-December and went on to make more than $600 million worldwide.
We recently learned that this holiday tradition will continue in the near future as the upcoming biopic "Marty Supreme" will be opening on Christmas day this year, while the third film in Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" series is scheduled for release in December of 2026.
Throughout much of 2024, New Yorkers spotted Chamalet sporting a thin mustache and glasses while filming "Marty Supreme," a biopic inspired by the life of table tennis champion Marty Reisman. Reisman dominated New York City's ping pong scene in the 1950s, winning more than 20 national and international titles between 1946 and 2002.
On December 5 Chalamet posted on X that filming had wrapped. Broadway Stages was thrilled to host the young A-lister and his co-stars, including Fran Drescher and Gwyneth Paltrow, as they filmed in our facilities. The film's cast also includes Tyler, the Creator (in his film debut), Sandra Bernhard, Penn Jillette, Odessa A'zion, Kevin O'Leary, Spenser Granese, and Abel Ferrara.
"Marty Supreme" will be director Josh Safdie's first solo project in more than a decade. He received critical acclaim for the 2019 thriller "Uncut Gems," co-directed by his brother Benny.
With a Third Season in the Works, AMC's "The Terror" Wins Fans on Netflix
In 2018, AMC launched the first season of its historical horror anthology series "The Terror," based on Dan Simmons's 2007 novel of the same name. Last summer, Netflix introduced the series to its 280+ millions of subscribers, streaming the 10-episode first season through a deal with AMC. "The Terror" quickly found an audience, landing in the top 10 most-watched shows across all streaming platforms for the week of August 22.
This newfound attention came at the perfect time, as last February AMC announced that after a five-year hiatus the series would return for a third season titled "The Terror: Devil in Silver," which includes scenes filmed at our facilities, as well as at local Staten Island pizzeria and bar Lee’s Tavern.
As an anthology series, each season of "The Terror" features a new cast and story. The first season tells a fictionalized account of Sir John Franklin's lost expedition to locate the Northwest Passage in the 1840s. The second season, released in 2019, jumped ahead 100 years to focus on a haunted Japanese internment camp during World War II.
The upcoming season will be based on the 2012 Victor LaValle novel "Devil in Silver," which follows Pepper, a man who finds himself wrongfully committed to a psychiatric hospital where a devilish creature wanders the halls at night. Dan Stevens will star as Pepper alongside an ensemble cast that includes Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, Stephen Root, John Benjamin Hickey, Michael Aronov, Marin Ireland, Chinaza Uche, Hampton Fluker, Hayward Leach, Philip Ettinger, and b.
CBS Hit "Elsbeth" Returning With New Episodes on January 30
"Elsbeth" has been on hiatus since December 19, but fans of the quirky attorney-turned-investigator Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) need not worry. The whodunit will return at the end of the month with the ninth episode of season two, picking up right where it left off.
When we last saw Tascioni, she was facing threats from two directions. A case from her past has come back to haunt her, and she is attempting to take down a powerful and vengeful judge (Michael Emerson) who she knows committed a murder.
Her boss, Captain Wagner (Wendell Pierce), needs to decide how far he's willing to go to nab the corrupt judge. Meanwhile, officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson) has a new roommate, the handsome medical examiner Cameron Clayden (Sullivan Jones).
Preston recently joined "CBS Mornings Plus" to talk about the new season and working with her husband, Michael Emerson, on the show. Emerson previously starred on "Evil," another Broadway Stages-hosted production, and she noted that the crossover crew from the two shows allowed him to fit right in on the set of "Elsbeth."
The next episode, which will air on January 30 and include a guest appearance from Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace"), centers on the murder of a patient of a holistic wellness center. As previously reported, other guest stars that will appear in the second half of the season include Ioan Gruffudd ("Hornblower"), Alan Ruck ("Succession"), and Matthew Broderick and his son James Wilkie Broderick.
Sarah Jessica Parker Hints at What's to Come in Season Three of "And Just Like That…"
It has been well over a year since we last caught up with Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda. We still aren't sure exactly when Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon will be returning to the small screen, but we do know that "And Just Like That…" recently finished filming in New York City, and there is a lot in store for the ladies in the upcoming third season of the "Sex and the City" reboot.
Season two ended with a bittersweet dinner party to bid adieu to Carrie's longtime apartment. After yet another split from Aidan (John Corbett), Carrie found herself living all alone in a large townhouse in Gramercy Park.
Variety reports that at the Red Sea Film Festival in Saudi Arabia, Parker teased that there would be "some new men" in the upcoming season. As previously reported, Mehcad Brooks ("Law & Order"), Jonathan Cake ("Desperate Housewives"), and Logan Marshall-Green ("Big Sky") will appear in the third season as recurring guest stars. Comedic actresses Cheri Oteri and Rosie O'Donnell have also joined the cast in undisclosed roles.
If you need to catch up on the first two seasons before new episodes air, you can watch "And Just Like That..." on HBO's streaming platform Max.
