Fall Fun at Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm
/Fall is finally upon us, and there is plenty to do to celebrate. Our own President and CEO, Gina Argento, recently carved some time out of her busy schedule to visit Wilkens Fruit & Fir Farm with her daughter. It is the perfect location to take in the kaleidoscopic view of autumn foliage and enjoy the fall flavors! Apples anyone?
Wilkens Farm has brought joy to area families for over 100 years. While Gina and her daughter spent the afternoon picking (and sampling) some of the farm’s 13 varieties of apples, other families used the occasion to pick peaches, plums, nectarines, pears, and, of course, pumpkins that were ready for harvest. And kids also love to make their way through the farm’s Corn Maze.
But it’s not just about fruit picking. Once you have worked up your appetite, we suggest you stop by the Ice Cream Corner Shoppe for an Apple Cider Donut Sundae or an Apple Cider Float. If you are in the mood for baked goods, the Appleseed Shop offers pies, Struedel Sticks, and the farm’s famous Apple Cider donuts. You can also get more staple lunch items such as hotdogs, popcorn, and bottled water. The Country Market on the upper floor of the Red Barn sells souvenirs, country-themed gifts and local crafts, including Christmas ornaments, gift baskets, scarecrows, and apple kitchen products.
Finally, if you thirst for something a bit more adult than apple cider, check out the farm’s vineyard, White Hill Vineyard, that is open on the weekend. The blend of old and new makes the tasting room a cozy place to enjoy wine and mingle with family and friends.
As Gina can tell you, fall at Wilkens Farm is a great place to make fun, lasting memories. For those who like to plan ahead, Wilkens Farm also sells Christmas trees. Fraser Fir trees are available for Choose-n-Cut in their fields, and pre-cut Fraser Fir trees are also available. They also have a limited number of Douglas Fir trees available this season. Due to high demand, anyone looking to purchase a tree between Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, must make a reservation. Plan your visit today. The farm is open Wednesday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can check them out on Instagram and Facebook to follow the fun and be updated on what is fresh and happening! We encourage you to visit Wilkens Fruit and Fir Farm. And when you do, tell them Broadway Stages sent you!
