Brooklyn Public Library Exhibit Honors Jay-Z

Did you know that Broadway Stages got its start in music videos, with our soundstages hosting many hip-hop bands over the years? Because of this and our pride in our Brooklyn roots, we are excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop by visiting the Brooklyn Public Library’s exhibit honoring iconic Brooklyn native Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter. “The Book of HOV” is an immersive exhibit that recognizes and honors the significant impact that JAY-Z has made on hip-hop, music, and culture.  Visitors will experience images, audio, art, and more. And a fun feature of the exhibit is the opportunity to get one of 13 limited-edition Brooklyn Public Library cards, each featuring art from an iconic JAY-Z album—from Reasonable Doubt to 4:44 and available on a rotating basis. Learn more about the cards and how to sign up here.

Created by Roc Nation, the exhibit is located at the library’s Central Library located at 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn. It is free and open to the public (until October 2023). Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this unique exhibit. To learn more about the exhibit online, visit thebookofhov.com, and visit New York Public Library to read about the hip-hop journey and their 50th anniversary events.

Also, consider supporting the Brooklyn Public Library by attending their Gala Honoring Hon. Dr. Gloria Carter and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter on October 2, 2023. Individual tickets and various sponsorship packages are available. Or consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Gala to provide support.
