Spotlight | Miss Lily’s 7A Cafe in East Village

Welcome to Broadway Stages’ Spotlight, where we feature local shops, restaurants, organizations, individuals, and venues. This month we are going beyond the boroughs where we have operations to promote neighboring businesses. Join us this week as our journey takes us to the East Village for a meal and drinks at Miss Lily’s 7A.

The Culture Trip travel guide called Miss Lily’s 7A Cafe on Avenue A in the East Village “the answer to your Caribbean food prayers.” This renowned Caribbean Rum Bar & Jerk Shack has lunch, dinner, and possibly one of the best weekend brunch offerings in the city.

It would be wise to make a reservation, but you can sit back, relax. and enjoy the bar if there is a wait. The staff will make you feel at home while you choose from over 100 varieties of Caribbean rum, a full selection of wine, beer, cocktails, and a frozen “Dark & Stormy” slushy machine that you simply must try!.

Miss Lily’s Culinary Director Andre Fowles, a native of Jamaica, brings a modern approach to classic Jamaican cooking. In addition to Miss Lily’s 7A Café, he guides Miss Lily’s dishes online at Goldbelly.com, and the Skylark Negril Beach Resort in Jamaica!

Chef Fowles’s culinary creations are inspired by his grandmother “Mama Cherry.” The meaningful time he spent with her in the kitchen, has influenced his modern, innovative dishes founded in the familiar and delicious flavors of Jamaica.

“I always stay true to my roots with those Caribbean flavors. Whether it’s Mediterranean, French, or Italian, I just keep growing those flavors from my Caribbean roots,” said  Chef Fowles.

A project dear to Miss Lily’s heart is the Rockhouse Foundation. This New York registered 501(c)(3) is dedicated to transforming the places where Jamaica’s children learn and support the great people who teach them.

Miss Lily’s, along with the Skylark Negril Beach Resort and the Rockhouse Hotel of Jamaica, underwrites the Rockhouse Foundation’s administrative costs. So, every dollar raised goes directly to support the Foundation’s programs and projects. For more information or to contribute, please CLICK HERE.

Miss Lily’s is not only a great place to eat, drink, and be merry, but also helps to bring education to children in Jamaica.
