Relay for Life of Middle Village | September 25, 2021

No doubt you have heard about the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life movement. Held across the nation since 1986, these Relays are dedicated to help communities attack cancer. Through funds donated, time given, or awareness raised, communities teaming up – virtually or in person – to make a difference. If you have never had the opportunity to participate in a Relay for Life, now is your chance! The Relay for Life of Middle Village is hosting a Pop-Up Relay on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 6 to 9 PM.

The Middle Village Relay event will kick off with an opening ceremony at 6 PM, honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and those who contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season. The survivor/caregiver walk will follow at 6:20 PM – the heart and soul of Relay for Life events – honoring their strength and courage. Then at 7:45 PM a luminaria ceremony will be held; a tradition at Relay, dedicated homemade paper lanterns – decorated with the names of loved ones – are lit to honor or remember a life touched by cancer. The ceremony is accompanied by a moment of silence for those we’ve lost. The evening will wrap up with a closing ceremony at 8:45 PM. Please note that all CDC and NY State COVID-19 guidelines will be followed to help ensure the health and safety of all who attend.
