Charity Spotlight | The Paley Center for Media
/As one of New York’s largest growing full-service film, TV, and music video studio production companies, we value diversity and promote inclusion of experiences, talents, and culture in the industry. This week’s Charity Spotlight shines on an organization that epitomizes these values, The Paley Center for Media. Over time, various forms of media have become intrinsic parts of our society. Now more than ever, The Paley Center’s mission of taking a close look at “ the intersections between media and society” helps us gain deeper meaning and context as they spearhead “the discussion about the cultural, creative, and social significance of television, radio, and emerging platforms.” The organization was founded in 1975 as The Museum of Broadcasting, subsequently known as The Museum of Television & Radio. In 2007, they became The Paley Center for Media, named after broadcasting innovator and CBS founder William S. Paley.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with locations in New York and Los Angeles, the Paley Center offers numerous programs that provide valuable resources to the public, members of the industry, and educators. A key feature at the center is an archive comprising a vast collection of international content from more than 70 countries, spanning more than 100 years of TV and radio history. You can access the Paley Archive Database online. Find entertaining and thought-provoking conversations through the annual PaleyFest. And you can visit Paley@Home (presented by Citi) to find content including conversations with stars (at Paley Front Row), conversations about social and cultural issues (at PaleyImpact); resources for teachers and students (at Paley Education@Home); and more including Teen Transmitters, a 100-hour paid summer internship for rising 11th and 12th grade students who attend New York City area public high schools. The program provides key skills to prepare the students for college and careers. Click here to experience the culminating project from the 2021 group of interns — a podcast series, “What’s Next?” consisting of twelve different episodes, each one written, produced, and edited by one of the interns.
