The COVID-19 pandemic has had a substantial impact on all of us. The jolt to the film industry was felt across all arts sectors, inducing cinemas and movie theaters that spent much of 2000 closed due to the coronavirus. But alas, hope springs eternal; restrictions have been lifted and our treasured cinemas are once again open to the public – and we can’t get enough!

Greenpoint’s own Stuart Cinema & Café reopened to much fanfare from locals. In 2018, Emelyn Stuart opened this independent one-room cinema in what was once a former warehouse, and it didn’t take long for folks to take notice. Not only do they show the latest and greatest releases, including a variety of children movies, but also provide delicious menu items created by the talented Chef Julian Philips who has 30 years of culinary experience and is also a three-time Emmy Award winner and nine-time nominee. Stuart Cinema also offers releases On Demand that you can enjoy in the comfort of your own home. And yes, there is more, so be sure to check them out and prepare to enjoy films the way they were meant to be seen, on the big screen or at home if you prefer!
