Showtime Hopes to Bring "Let the Right One In" to the Small Screen
/Showtime has ordered a pilot for an adaptation of the hit Swedish novel “Let the Right One In.” The 2004 novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist centers on the relationship between a bullied 12-year-old boy and a vampire child in suburban Stockholm both struggling to survive in the early 1980s. However, showrunner Andrew Hinderaker will put his own spin on this story by moving the action to New York and adding additional characters and storylines.
Showtime has brought in Demián Bichir, Madison Taylor Baez, Kevin Carroll, Jacob Buster, Ian Foreman, Anika Noni Rose, and Grace Gummer to bring this story to life. Bichir, known for roles in “The Hateful Eight” and “Alien: Covenant,” plays Mark, a husband and father whose daughter Eleanor (Baez, known for her role as young Selena on “Selena: The Series”) is bitten by a mysterious creature, which seemingly turns her into a vampire.
In 2008, the novel was adapted for the big screen in Swedish under its original name. Two years later, an English-language version was released under the name “Let Me In.” Both films were popular with critics and horror fans alike. If the pilot tests well with audiences, then we will hopefully see a full series debut on Showtime sometime next year.
Broadway Stages is thrilled to play a role in bringing this horror story to life. We are also happy to expand our relationship with Showtime, having served as the production partner-of-choice for the network’s hit series “Billions,” with all five seasons filming at our studios. Check in for updates on the premiere of “Let the Right One In.”
