Celebrating the Arts | CreateART

This month, we are excited to highlight CreateART, a local organization and 2019 Brooklyn Arts Council community grant recipient that provides opportunities for emerging artists to share multidisciplinary performances, such as dance, music, film, and performance art, in unique NYC area venues. Sponsored by Unique Projects Inc, CreateART works with venues and collaborators including Ace Hotel NYC, Venn Housing, NoOSPHERE Arts, GALLIM, and Arts on Site. In fact, last fall they collaborated with Broadway Stages’ arts partner NOoSPHERE Arts on the We are Nature Summer Series. Read more on our blog about this series and the event held at Kingsland Wildflowers at Broadway Stages.

In partnership with GALLIM, CreateART offers the GallimXCreateART residency program. Although the residency program is currently on pause due to the Covid-19 pandemic, artists can submit an application to be considered for the program once it starts up again.

Experience the artistry that CreateART makes possible by attending one of their upcoming events. Don’t miss Dance Film Nights @Venn Cowork (786 Knickerbocker Ave) for screenings and discussion focused on dance on screen. There are several dates this summer (Mondays; June 28, July 19, and August 23; at 8 p.m.), each with short films, conversation with their creators and complimentary wine. Visit Eventbrite for a detailed schedule and to register. Find more details on their event schedule. As always, follow local and venue pandemic protocols, and stay safe!

Get involved. If you are an artist looking for opportunities to show your work, or if you would just like to volunteer to help, you can find more information on the organization’s website. Also, consider providing financial support. The artist community has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic, as discussed in this piece on Bedford + Bowery. Consider donating to support CreateART and their work to provide emerging artists with performance and residency opportunities; your donations will contribute to performing artists fees, production, and administration costs. Follow CreateART on Instagram and Facebook.
