AP Recognizes Broadway Stages in Piece on Repurposed Prisons
/In 2017, Broadway Stages converted the formerly defunct Arthur Kill Correctional Facility into a bustling TV and film production studio, transforming this once bleak structure into a hub of creativity and industry. The converted prison hosts roughly 40 permanent jobs and brings in between 200-300 additional positions when in use. You might recognize this location from productions such as Orange is the New Black and Oceans 8 as well as others. Recently, the Associated Press featured our Arthur Kill prison location in an article about the repurposing of old prisons for a myriad of applications including homeless shelters, educational farms, and movie studios.
