"Simply Halston" Wraps Up Filming at Broadway Stages

Netflix seems to have the golden touch when it comes to miniseries. In 2020 the streaming service found great success with the immensely popular Tiger King and The Queen’s Gambit, as well as the critically acclaimed Unorthodox. So, what can we expect next? Well, we are excited to report that Netflix’s Simply Halston is on its way to a streaming device near you sometime this year.

Scottish born actor, Ewan McGregor will star in and executive produce the limited series, written by Sharr White of The Affair and directed by American Crime Story’s Dan Minahan. The miniseries is based on the life of the legendary fashion designer to the stars Roy Halston Frowick, known by all as simply Halston. The American icon rose to fame after designing a pillbox hat for Jackie Kennedy to wear at her husband’s inauguration in 1961. His namesake brand took the world by storm in the 70’s and 80’s, but he personally suffered many challenges and setbacks before dying of AIDS in 1990 at the age of 57. Rory Culkin of Succession fame co-stars as the late film director Joel Schumacher, who partied with Halston back in the day.

Production on the upcoming miniseries shut down in 2020 amid the pandemic, but the team was able to regroup and finish filming at our soundstages in time for a highly anticipated 2021 release. We cannot wait to see how everything comes together, and we look forward to future collaborations with Netflix and the cast and crew of Simply Halston.
