Charity Spotlight | RiseBoro Community Partnership

This month we continue our focus on an organization that is helping our neighbors – fighting to end hunger and food insecurity, while also helping to meet a variety of needs in our community. Welcome RiseBoro Community Partnership! Since 1973, RiseBoro have offered services designed to support every generation and meet the various needs of the community. From seniors, housing, education, health and empowerment, their mission is to unleash the potential of communities to thrive, no matter the odds. Their unique model of holistic community revitalization works by developing neighborhood assets, like affordable housing, to create the foundation for a more vibrant and diverse community. They build upon this foundation with programs designed to connect people to resources to help everyone in the community thrive, especially our most vulnerable populations. This inclusive approach helps unleash the potential of the community and ensures that nobody is left behind in times of growth – or crisis, like the COVID-19 pandemic.

The RB Seniors Home Delivered Meals Program has been especially helpful during the pandemic. RiseBoro provides home-delivered meals to homebound seniors in multiple Brooklyn communities, including: Bushwick, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Bedford Stuyvesant, Fort Green, Crown Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Boerum Hill, Park Slope, and Red Hook. They prepare and deliver 1,500 hot nutritious meals per day from their Borinquen Plaza Senior Center. Hot meals are prepared and delivered 6 days per week and a chilled meal is delivered on Saturday for Sunday. The program prepares meals that meet special requests including Asian, vegetarian, lactose and low sodium diets, as well as religious and ethnically appropriate meals. But feeding our most vulnerable neighbors is just one of many programs offered by RiseBoro.
