Business Spotlight: Pete’s Candy Store | Brooklyn

Welcome to Broadway Stages’ Business Spotlight, where we feature local shops, restaurants, organizations, and venues in the communities where we have operations. We encourage our readers to join us in supporting these establishments and advancing local economic growth.

For a long time now, Williamsburg has been a melting pot for culture, and a hub for music, food, and shopping. Its bustling streets are alive with people of all ages and all walks of life, soaking in everything it has to offer. But it wasn’t always this way, and today we reflect on one of the pioneers who helped make this area a NYC destination location. Pete’s Candy Store - the original storefront has stood since the 1920’s, but Pete’s began operations in 1999, becoming “the biggest little venue in NYC.” Since their inception, Pete’s Candy Store has played host to a number of popular artists such as Joanna Newsom, Dirty Projectors, Regina Spektor, and so many more! Years later, they would transition to a format more comparable to a bar, although they still operate as a free venue aimed at promoting lesser-known artists.

The venue operates every day of the week until 2am. You can check out the calendar on their website to see upcoming acts, events, or anything else you might be interested in attending. From open mic night, to quizzo, poetry readings and more! You can show them support by picking up some of their great merch, or just stopping by with some friends to catch a show. Make sure you follow them on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with the latest happening at the venue! So, next time you’re looking for something to do on your night off, head over to Pete’s Candy Store in Williamsburg and show them some love! As always, tell them Broadway Stages sent you.
