Lt. Governor Joins Broadway Stages and TCAH on Veterans Day

On November 11 Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul joined Broadway Stages at The Campaign Against Hunger (TCAH) food collection and distribution center located at Broadway Stages’ facility in East Brooklyn.  Lieutenant Governor Hochul recognized the efforts of TCAH and the in-kind lease provided by Broadway Stages and took the opportunity to also officially commemorate Veterans Day with a proclamation from the office of the Governor. The event was attended by Senator Roxanne Persaud, representatives from the office of the Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Dr. Melony Samuels, Executive Director of TCAH, and Gina Argento, CEO and President of Broadway Stages.  The food that was being organized and distributed during this event was donated by Hello Fresh, who have been working with TCAH prior to and during the pandemic.

In May of this year Broadway Stages opened the doors of our facility in Canarsie to TCAH, one of the most trusted anti-hunger nonprofits working to end hunger and build health in our City.  We were advised by Senator Roxanne Persaud of their need for a temporary space.  TCAH has been actively seeking a permanent location, but the pandemic has made it difficult to secure another facility. In response, we opened our doors and have since then extended our in-kind lease, first for six months and now for a total of ten months. That means TCAH can focus on collecting and distributing food from our Canarsie facility to residents in need until the end of March 2021.  Our sincere thanks to Dr. Samuels and her team of volunteers for the leadership, passion and commitment to help our community in this unprecedented time of need.

At Broadway Stages our commitment to community has always been an integral part of our business. Today, more than ever, that commitment is critical to help ensure our neighbors who need help are receiving it. We are proud to be part of an industry that’s making a positive impact and proud to partner with elected officials, other businesses and non-profit organizations that are helping thousands in need.  For more information about The Campaign Against Hunger and how you can support this organization click here.  Read the article by Anna Quinn at patch.com.
