In this week’s edition of Crain’s New York Business you’ll find an article about the growth being experienced on Staten Island. Read the article here [go to page 15 - SPOTLIGHT] which includes a quote by our own Gina Argento, President and CEO of Broadway Stages.

In 2017 Broadway Stages acquired the former Arthur Kill Correctional Facility in the Charleston section of Staten Island; shuttered in 2011.  Plans are underway to transform the 69-acre campus into a mecca for the production of movies, television shows and music videos. The property provides amazing backdrops for interior and exterior filming that can be easily transformed. One of five planned sound stages has been completed with others under construction or in the planning phase.  The prison facility has already been used by major Hollywood production companies for its authenticity and real “prison feel”, including shows and films like Orange is the New Black, Daredevil, Oceans 8, The Blacklist, Pose, and more recently, the TV mini series Wu Tang: An American Saga, and When They See Us. There are endless possibilities with this space. It even provides adequate parking for all the trailers and equipment needed for filming, and we furnish free shop space to the United Scenic Artists, Local 829 for their three year apprenticeship program.  We love our neighbors in Staten Island and look forward to continued mutual growth.
