MOME Commissioner Visits Broadway Stages

Recently, Broadway States was honored with a visit by the Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment (MOME), Anne del Castillo, and a few members of her staff.  MOME is comprised of four divisions, of which Commissioner del Castillo is responsible, namely 1) the office of film, theater and broadcasting that coordinates film and television production throughout the five boroughs; 2) NYC media, the largest municipal television and radio broadcasting entity in the country with a reach of 18 million viewers within a 50-mile radius; 3) workforce and educational initiatives in film, television, theater, music, publishing, advertising and digital content; and 4) the office of nightlife, supporting the sustainable development of NYC’s nightlife industry.  As a whole, MOME accounts for hundreds of billions of dollars that come into our local, city and state coffers as a result of economic impact from the industry.

Our visit included a tour of several sets and a discussion about the state of the industry — the economic growth that has resulted, and the opportunities and challenges we face as an industry. In addition, we shared our family owned business approach, that includes a commitment to community and environmental sustainability.  We thank Ms. Castillo and her staff for their time and commitment to the industry and our neighbors. As one of the premier studio production companies in New York, Broadway Stages is proud to play a role in helping to bring economic growth and sustainability to our local community.
