‘Crazy Cat’ Entered for IKEA Drawing Competition - Please Vote!

Did you know that IKEA hosts an annual drawing competition for it’s Family member’s children ages 12 and under to draw their own soft toy? Well they do and children from all over the world take part in the competition. Six lucky winners will see their drawings transform into real soft toys sold in IKEA stores during autumn 2020. The proceeds from the sale of the soft toys contribute to the IKEA Let’s play! campaign supporting children’s rights to play.  

Even more exciting is that one of our very own neighbors, eight year old Jasper, has entered the competition with his ‘Crazy Cat’ drawing.  Broadway Stages is placing its vote for Jasper’s ‘Crazy Cat’ and you can too. I mean look at how good it is!

At only eight years old, this third grader is an avid North Brooklyn volunteer. He helps out at a lot of parks and open space volunteer events, including the Oyster Monitoring Project at Bushwick Inlet Park, and several park plantings and cleanups at Bushwick Inlet, American Playground and Transmitter Park.  He has also helped pick up trash at several Curb Your Litter Greenpoint events, including McGolrick Park and all around industrial Greenpoint. He has been a regular at National Night Out hosted by the 94th Precinct for many of his eight years and loves it so much that Broadway Stages invited him to be a part of the team this year.  Beyond his volunteer activities, Jasper loves to draw, is an aficionado of stuffed animals, enjoys riding his bike around Greenpoint, playing basketball and softball with his Dad at American Playground, and eating Davey’s ice cream, even if it’s freezing outside. Now that is one bonafide tough Brooklyn kid!
