The Young African Leaders Initiative Visits Broadway Stages

Broadway Stages is excited to support the next generation of filmmakers! The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, started in 2014, is the flagship program of President Obama's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. In 2016, the fellowship will provide 1,000 outstanding young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. higher education institution with support for professional development after they return home.

Thanks to Stephen Greenwald from Wagner College, these young individuals are studying in New York. For more information on this fellowship, please visit Young African Leaders Initiative.

Broadway Stages Donates Arts Supplies to Community Event at Irving Square Park

Broadway Stages was happy to support a free, fun "It's My Park" event at Irving Square Park on Saturday. Kids, neighbors, and families came together to clean and paint garbage cans.

We donated the paint supplies and a few hands to ensure a fun, successful event. Thank you to NYC Parks and all the volunteers for coming out to this exciting event!

Broadway Stages Invites Students on a Studio Tour

Broadway Stages is always happy to support the local arts scene. We sponsored an after-school film course for high school students at the Ridgewood YMCA, in which the students worked on a documentary for their school. They ended the day with a tour of our studios in Glendale.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the YMCA, the talented students, and our very own stage manager Dennis for giving a great tour.

Broadway Stages Goes Green With Town Square

Saturday was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and Town Square made it even more beautiful! At the Go Green! Festival, participants learned about sustainability initiatives in North Brooklyn while enjoying local food, live music, dance performances, and arts and crafts.

A big thank you to Susan Anderson, chairperson of Town Square, for organizing yet another wonderful day for our community.

Camp Brooklyn's mission is to send kids from low-income Brooklyn families to sleep-away camp. This year, their camp session begins in July, and they are looking to send 100 kids to camp. Sponsor a kid today at www.campbrooklyn.squarespace.com.
