Save the Date! 15th Annual Benefit for the Community-Word Project

Broadway Stages is a long-time supporter of the Community-Word Project, a New York City-based arts-in-education organization that inspires children in underserved communities to read, interpret, and respond to their world and to become active citizens through collaborative arts residencies and teacher training programs.

Community-Word Project started 17 years ago with one classroom in the Bronx. Today, the organization is in more than 80 classrooms helping 2,000 kids.

Learn more at www.communitywordproject.org and save the date, April 22, for an auction event to support the organization. Broadway Stages is proud to sponsor this event as part of our commitment to provide educational opportunities for local students.

Broadway Stages Is Proud to Sponsor Schoolfest

Town Square's 8th annual Schoolfest is a one-of-a-kind school fair for North Brooklyn students and parents. All schools, early childhood centers, and extracurricular providers are invited to a single venue to meet North Brooklyn families.

We are excited to announce that this year Schoolfest will be held at the North 5th Center in Williamsburg. The center is conveniently located just blocks away from the Bedford L-station and Williamsburg waterfront.

With the help of council members Steve Levin and Antonio Reynoso, as well as District 14 Superintendent Alicja Winnicki, this year's Schoolfest will host almost 70 educational providers to provide parents and educators with a one-stop informational resource.

Blue Bloods, CBS, and Broadway Stages Donate $25,000 to the Families of Slain NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu

This past Wednesday, Jane Raab produced our most moving scene of the season. At the offices of the Detectives' Endowment Association in Manhattan, Donnie Wahlberg and Will Estes awarded a check for $25,000 from "Blue Bloods," CBS, and Tony Argento to the families of slain NYPD officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. With Detective Jim Nuciforo ably handling the logistics and NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton graciously presiding, it was a memorable moment where our fictional world intersected in solidarity with their tragically real one. Thank you to the Detectives' Endowment Association and the NY Police Department for keeping us safe.

Broadway Stages Donates to the Big Brooklyn Holiday Toy Drive

We are honored to donate this year's photo booth and dozens of toys to The Big Brooklyn Holiday Toy Drive.

The toy drive originated In 2012 when a group of local businesses, organizations, and community members decided to help local children affected by Hurricane Sandy. Today, the drive continues to bring holiday cheer to local children. For information on how you can help, please visit http://bigbktoydrive.com/.

Broadway Stages Helps Send Brooklyn Kids to Camp

Broadway Stages is a longtime supporter of Camp Brooklyn Fund, an organization that gives children from low-income Brooklyn families the chance to escape the urban landscape for a few weeks by attending sleep-away camp.

With the support of sponsors including Broadway Stages, Camp Brooklyn raised enough money to send more than 80 kids to accredited camps this summer for an experience they'll never forget. Thank you to the board of directors and Marty Markowitz for opening up opportunities for children all over Brooklyn.

We encourage you to get involved in this organization by visiting http://www.campbrooklyn.org.

Broadway Stages Helps Clean Up McGolrick Park in Greenpoint

Broadway Stages volunteers got dirty by cleaning up today. We helped dispose of 250 bags of garbage as part of the McGolrick Park Clean Up Day Honoring Marie Sadowski. We also removed overgrown ragweed and pokeweed from the garden beds.

We were happy to work alongside members of the McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance (MPNA), a group of organized community leaders and residents working to improve McGolrick Park and our neighborhood.

Broadway Stages Supports the Boy Scouts

The Boy Scouts of America honored Broadway Stages' very own Gina Argento at the 2014 Good Scout Award Luncheon. With the help of Broadway Stages and other generous supporters, the Scouts raised enough money for the upcoming year's program. Thank you to Field Director Justin Rodstrom for helping us to be part of the event and congrats to Gina Argento for being this year's Good Scout!
