Broadway Stages President Gina Argento Sponsors 35 Children for YMCA After-School Program

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, believes the Greenpoint YMCA provides essential recreational opportunities for youths and family in the Greenpoint neighborhood. To celebrate the YMCA's success in positively impacting youth development, Gina contributed to the YMCA at Greenpoint at its annual Spirit of Community Service Awards.

At the event, Gina was recognized as a leader, allowing her to sponsor 35 children to attend after-school programs. As a financial contributor, Gina hopes her contributions will provide these children with proper after-school activities to help them develop.

Broadway Stages President Gina Argento Protects New York City Wildlife

Gina Argento, President and CEO of Broadway Stages, is an avid supporter of the preservation of wildlife in New York City. Determined to protect New York City's wildlife, Gina financially contributes to the New York City Audubon, a collection of community members dedicated to the protection of bird species and nature. She is also contributing to its Fall Roost, an annual benefit that raises money to support conservative efforts.

Gina's contributions will be used to fund educational programs that teach New Yorkers about the importance of wildlife conservation and offer them opportunities to help. Her participation in the New York City Audubon Fall Roost also celebrates the $150,000 raised to expand conversation efforts in Governor's Island as part of the Governor's Island initiative.

Join the initiative to help bird species and wildlife in New York stay healthy and continue to grow!

Children from Brooklyn's John Ericsson Middle School 126 are going to space camp in Montreal, Canada, thanks to the generosity of Broadway Stages' CEO and President Gina Argento.

As a supporter of local Brooklyn education and Brooklyn communities, Gina has contributed financial donations to a fundraiser that will help 13 students begin their space odyssey!

Space camp allows students to operate and experience the elements of a real-life space mission, with fully equipped space suits. Students will have the surreal experience of being in space while learning about the history and the future of space exploration.

The Young African Leaders Initiative Visits Broadway Stages

Broadway Stages is excited to support the next generation of filmmakers! The Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, started in 2014, is the flagship program of President Obama's Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) that empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking. In 2016, the fellowship will provide 1,000 outstanding young leaders from sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to hone their skills at a U.S. higher education institution with support for professional development after they return home.

Thanks to Stephen Greenwald from Wagner College, these young individuals are studying in New York. For more information on this fellowship, please visit Young African Leaders Initiative.

Broadway Stages Invites Students on a Studio Tour

Broadway Stages is always happy to support the local arts scene. We sponsored an after-school film course for high school students at the Ridgewood YMCA, in which the students worked on a documentary for their school. They ended the day with a tour of our studios in Glendale.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at the YMCA, the talented students, and our very own stage manager Dennis for giving a great tour.

Congratulations to FIAO for Another Successful Scholarship Fundraising Gala

Broadway Stages is proud to support the Federation of Italian-American Organizations of Brooklyn (FIAO). For 36 years, FIAO has provided a gamut of services directed at improving the quality of life of individuals and families in the community, with a focus on the most vulnerable members of society – immigrants, seniors, and youth.

These services include social assistance and educational and recreational programs. They also provide scholarships to high school graduates pursuing higher education and cultural initiatives such as the Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade and exchange programs.

A state-of-the-art cultural center called Il Centro will soon be located at 8711 18th Ave., (Cristoforo Colombo Blvd). This will allow the organization to expand services and will serve as a cultural resource to Italian Americans as well as become a model to all ethnic groups in how to preserve, celebrate, and share one's own heritage in a multicultural society.

Congratulations to the scholarship winners and FIAO for an amazing year. For more information please visit http://fiaobrooklyn.org/.
