The Eagle Street Rooftop Farm is a green roof and commercially operated vegetable farm atop a three-story warehouse owned by Broadway Stages in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We were happy to lend out the space to spread the word about raising money for ALS!
Young volunteers from Trees NY, an environmental and urban forestry nonprofit organization, cleaned trash, pulled weeds, cultivated soil, and watered trees in front of our studio at 370 Greenpoint Ave. The organization's mission is to plant, preserve, and protect New York City's urban forest through education, volunteer groups, and advocacy.
ExxonMobil and Broadway Stages funded the S.Y.S.T.E.M Teen Summer Program, which came to an end at the Lentol Garden Wednesday afternoon. Through the program, 12 New York City high school students developed skills to become future leaders of environmental studies. The Greenpoint YMCA and the NYU Wallerstein Collaborative for Urban Environmental Education developed the program with a focus on the integration of STEM standards.
Broadway Stages, CBS's "The Good Wife" (filmed at Broadway Stages), and Greenpoint YMCA sponsored the Night Out Against Crime, an event celebrating and promoting safer neighborhoods. In Greenpoint, the 94th Precinct discussed ways to prevent crime and highlight neighborhood watch groups and other crimefighting efforts. Thank you to Betty Hulson and the crew of the 94th Precinct Community Council for putting together another amazing event full of food, rides, and music.
Last Thursday Mayor Bill De Blasio and first lady Chirlane McCray threw a kickoff party at the Gracie Mansion to celebrate this weekend's pride parade. Broadway Stages, TD Bank, and Kiehl's sponsored the event, which celebrated diversity in NYC.
"Blue Bloods," which films right here at Broadway Stages, is helping the nonprofit Rock And Wrap It Up! provide food to soup kitchens, churches, and homeless shelters across North America.
Using green tactics, the organization collects untouched food from concerts, television production sets, and catering tables and distributes it to agencies that fight poverty. Broadway Stages and ExxonMobil are proud to team up to bring Green Science Week back to PS 110, The Monitor School, in Brooklyn. Our kickoff starts with Mad Science, which teaches kids science education through imagination and creativity.
The Groundswell Community Mural Project's at-risk youth program unveiled a new mural at Broadway Stages in Greenpoint, Brooklyn today. Entitled "Welcome to Greenpoint," the installation at 370 Greenpoint Avenue celebrates the neighborhood’s rich immigrant history and future as NYC's capital for TV and film. "We're honored that these students chose to build their gorgeous mural at Broadway Stages. They have put so much hard work into recreating, even re-imagining, our entire neighborhood. Their mural will be a constant reminder that Greenpoint is at the heart of who we all are," Broadway Stages president Gina Argento said.
Broadway Stages is excited to announce our newest stage facility with its very own commercial kitchen. Located at 21-29 45th Road, Long Island City, NY, 11101, this space was the home of the award-winning Food Network show "Chopped" for 11 seasons and also served as the set for various commercials and television shows.
Broadway Stages congratulates New York's new Film Commissioner Cynthia Lopez. Mayor Bill de Blasio appointed the industry veteran who has two decades of experience in NYC.
Broadway Stages plans to convert Arthur Kill Correctional Facility in Staten Island into a 69-acre mecca for making movies, TV shows, and music videos. The correctional facility closed in 2011.
"We are looking forward to expanding on Staten Island and transforming Arthur Kill into a world-class production facility," Broadway Stages president Gina Argento said.
