Broadway Stages Helps Students Create Little Free Libraries

little-library-books.jpg

Students from the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design (WHSAD) have embraced their desire to learn and spread their love of reading by creating Little Free Libraries.

Little Free Libraries are small boxes open to all members of the community to exchange, take, and donate books. The Little Free Libraries are community-run library outposts that encourage the sharing of reading materials. This initiative will help inspire students to read and learn more about various subjects such as math, science, history, and more!

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, donated materials and resources needed to complete the Little Free Libraries. Gina has donated to similar projects that encourage learning with books, including the Story Book Voyager. She wants to help provide students with a medium to share and inspire each other to pursue greater knowledge. Helping the WHSCAD build Little Free Libraries for students was an opportunity she could not pass up!

Broadway Stages Supports the Life Audrey Johnson Learning Center Toy Drive

The Life Audrey Johnson Learning Center is an amazing Brooklyn-based childcare organization teaching children aged 2 to 5 years old. Regularly teaching 60 students at a time, the day care center’s small teaching group helps personalize each student's learning experience and provide a personal touch to child development.

This Christmas, the day care center asked the community to support its toy drive for its students. Wishing to make a difference for the benefit of the kindergarten students, Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, contributed to the day care's toy drive. She donated toy cars, coloring books, dolls, action figures, and much more. Each student happily selected his or her gift of choice and was excited to play with it! Gina was happy to see children receive the gifts they wanted and hopes they enjoy the rest of their Christmas presents.

Incredible Year for Hunter College!

hunter.jpg

It has been another amazing year for Hunter College, one of New York’s leading educational institutions. This year alone Hunter College jumped from the 48th spot to the 28th "Best Regional Universities, North," a testament to its commitment to continuously improve its educational criteria.

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, encourages residents to support local educational institutions. Empowering our students with quality educational resources can lead them to a life of success beyond the academic scope. Having always been a contributor to local colleges, like Hunter College and Kingsborough Community College, Gina wanted to express her belief in making education accessible to everyone. Donations like hers help make scholarship programs that open doors to learning opportunities possible. Scholarships provide students with critical educational resources that can transform their academic studies into career paths.

Gina hopes that fellow New Yorkers join her in supporting and providing undergraduate scholars with the educational tools necessary to transform their lives.

Broadway Stages Supports Local Students Through Angels Program

futuresangel1.jpg

What better way to start off the New Year than by supporting education for New York City students! As a participant in the Futures in Education Angels program, Gina Argento, CEO of Broadway Stages, helps young scholars in elementary and intermediate schools get the necessary educational resources to continue to receive a quality Catholic education.

Her contributions as an Angel significantly reduce or in some cases completely subsidize a child's educational cost. Recipient families are relived of most or all financial obligations from school tuition for their children. Gina sees her support for the Angel program as more than just helping students receive a quality education. It is a positive investment in each child.

In fact, Angels and student recipients interact on a personal level through handwritten letters and artwork. Angels can then personally see the success of each student that they support and can be more involved in helping each student be the best they can be.

Gina encourages everyone to join her in participating in the Angel program offered by Futures in Education this year and make a difference!

St. Ignatius School (SIS) empowers students in the South Bronx to succeed in their academic careers as part of the school's drive for encouraging personal wellbeing.

The middle school structures its main curriculum around seven subjects: English, writing, mathematics, social studies, science, religion, and music. The school also offers a range of daily extracurricular activities in the form of after-school clubs that satisfy diverse interests ranging from anime, film, and photography to math, fitness, and leadership. SIS attends to the academic, creative, and physical wellbeing of its students.

Gina Argento, President of Broadway Stages, would like to congratulate the St. Ignatius School for supporting, educating, and benefitting the students of the South Bronx by providing quality educational programs for over two decades. To show her support for the SIS community, Gina has made a financial contribution to sponsor a student of the SIS community. She hopes that her donation will benefit the academic and personal growth of the student and others to come. Broadway Stages would also like to wish SIS many more years of success to come, and we look forward to positively impacting many more students in the future!

Broadway Stages Shares the Christmas Spirit With PS 114

unnamed (1).jpg

The most enjoyable gift to give during Christmas at Broadway Stages is the gift of giving!

This Christmas, Broadway Stages surprised students at PS 114, a local elementary public school, with Christmas presents. Students selected from a range of toys, board games, and art books. The coordinated effort came from a collaboration between Broadway Stages and fellow teachers at the school who were seeking donations. After learning that teachers were seeking donations for Christmas, Broadway Stages wanted to give as many presents as possible.

The event was a fun and exciting experience for students, teachers, and Broadway Stages staff, who helped coordinate the event and arrange for the delivery of the presents. Nothing means more to us than seeing young students receive their desired presents and helping out our local Brooklyn schools. Broadway Stages would like to wish students and teachers at PS 114 happy holidays!

Hundreds of Brooklyn Families Celebrate at Broadway Stages' Christmas Toy Drive

Broadway Stages hosted our largest Christmas event of the season at our annual toy drive this Christmas weekend. We encouraged local Brooklyn families to visit our Kingsland Avenue studio spaces to celebrate with a day of festivities, fun, and laughter.

We filled a large open space on the fourth floor of our Kingsland studio with catered food, beverages, and photo booths. Attendees enjoyed chicken tenders, pasta, fresh vegetables, and much more! We also provided cookies and tasty pastries for children and families to grab for dessert. Each table included Christmas arts and crafts for children to create, color, and decorate.

We expected over a hundred people to attend our event, and the community did not disappoint, as over 400 parents and children attended! All seats and tables filled up, so staffers brought additional chairs and tables to accommodate every family.

Of course it wouldn't be Christmas without Santa Claus. At the peak of the afternoon, Santa arrived with his reindeers and helpers to welcome each child and listen to their Christmas wish. Most children wished for presents, which they received a few minutes later!

Broadway Stages came prepared with over 500 toys ranging from board games to sports equipment, cars to action figures, and much more. Each child selected their own present for Christmas, and all left with happy faces and big smiles! We want to thank the community for coming to our Christmas toy drive and wish you all happy holidays!

Local students kicked off the event with a song, and the crowd joined in. Following their performance, a local volunteer orchestra played classic Christmas songs including "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Feliz Navidad." After the performances, Santa Claus himself made an appearance! While families and children waited their turns, they enjoyed delicious cookies and beverages.

We hope everyone had a great time at the Irving Square Christmas event and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Broadway Stages Supports Long Island Girl Talk's Fifth Annual Holiday Benefit Party

Long Island Girl Talk (LIGT) is an enrichment program designed for teen girls to dive deep into creating their own media content. Providing onsite training in all aspects of film and television production, LIGT assists teens in developing their own unique style and independence in media creations. Moreover, LIGT staffers train girls to develop longstanding relationships with one another beyond the scope of operating camera gear or editing software. The goal of the program is to enrich teen lives emotionally and socially in addition to boosting their future careers in media.

As a woman in New York's film and television industry herself, Broadway Stages President Gina Argento is inspired by LIGT's mission. Naturally, as one of the few woman CEOs in the industry, Gina supports training young women in media, but more importantly she appreciates the organization's push for the women to support each other.

LIGT's dedication to girls pursuing media has inspired Gina to become a supporter and sponsor to its fifth annual Holiday Benefit Party. The event on December 16 at Nassau Community College is to generate donations from the public to supply the girls with new equipment and program activities. Contributions made by Gina and Broadway Stages will be used by LIGT to directly improve learning resources, allowing the students to pursue even greater success in media. Gina is excited to see young, aspiring women join the industry and cannot wait for the future of film and TV in New York City.

Ice Cream You Scream! Neighbors Come Together at Broadway Stages Event

ice-cream.jpg

Who doesn't love ice cream? The residents of the Cooper Park Community sure do! They did not stop eating delicious ice cream cones until more than 300 were served at the ice cream donation event led by Broadway Stages.

The event spread throughout the community, with lines of families, children, and neighbors all waiting in line to grab a cone. Simple acts and gestures, such as serving our neighbors ice cream and seeing their smiles, make us so happy! Broadway Stages staffers loved seeing members of the community enjoying a day out together.

The ice cream truck donation was part of Broadway Stages President Gina Argento's continued gestures to give back to the community whenever possible. Whether it be scholarships, donations, or ice cream, Gina loves to give back and positively impact the Brooklyn community and all its members.
