“Wu-Tang: An American Saga “ | 92NY Recanati-Kaplan Talk

On Thursday, February 23, the 92NY Center For Culture & Arts will feature a screening and talk about Hulu’s “Wu-Tang: An American Saga.”  This event, part of the Recanati-Kaplan Talks, will include RZA, Alex Tse, Shameik Moore, Dave East, TJ Atoms, Siddiq Saunderson, and Marcus Callender in Conversation with Sway.

Set in New York City during the early 1990s, “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” documents the vision of Bobby Diggs, aka RZA (played by Ashton Sanders). His vision and dedication became the legendary rap creation, the Wu-Tang Clan. As the series progresses, it follows Wu-Tang Clan’s rise amid the dangers and excesses that the developing legends faced, both on the streets and within the music industry.

The series was written and produced by Alex Tse and RZA. Executive producers for the project included RZA, Method Man, Tse, Brian Grazer, and Francie Calfo.

Given that the Wu-Tang Clan is based out of Staten Island, it only makes sense that much of the series is filmed in New York City. In fact, significant elements of the production took place at Broadway Stages’ Staten Island campus that includes the former Arthur Kill Correctional Facility. This location has already been home to dozens of productions, including “Orange is the New Black,” “Ocean’s 8,” “Daredevil” and more.

Tickets for the 92NY event can be purchased online. For in-person tickets (screening and talk) at 8 pm, click HERE, and for on-line tickets (talk only) at approximately 9:05 pm, click HERE.

The final season of “Wu-Tang: An American Saga” premiered on Wednesday, February 15th.  If you missed it, you can still catch it streaming on Hulu.  We hope you will join us at the Recanati-Kaplan Talk at the 92NY!
