October is National Arts & Humanities Month

Join us as we celebrate the arts in October for National Arts & Humanities Month (NAHM). Broadway Stages proudly supports the arts in NYC, promoting the inclusion of experiences, talents, and cultures that enrich our lives all year long. Americans for the Arts established NAHM as a weekly celebration more than 30 years ago to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts. In 1993, it became a month-long event that highlights the importance of culture in our nation.

How you can get involved

Consider these ways to get involved in the arts this month:

●  NAHM will hold the National Arts Awards on October 17 at Guastavino’s in New York City to recognize outstanding leadership in the visual and performing arts, arts education, and philanthropy. For information about buying tickets or making a donation, see the NAHM website.

●  Find resources and ideas for celebrating the arts in October on the NAHM Resources page.

●  October also marks Italian-American Heritage Month and Polish-American Heritage Month. NYC area residents can celebrate Polish and Italian arts and culture at the 85th annual Pulaski Day Parade on Sunday, October 2, and the annual Columbus Day Parade on Monday, October 10, respectively.

Look for our spotlights this month on Italian and Polish arts organizations and individuals, including Polish-Italian painter Marcello Bacciarelli, who is the subject of our first spotlight in October. #ShowYourArt2022
