Hispanic Heritage Month | September 15 – October 15

Broadway Stages invites you to join us September 15 – October 15 as we observe Hispanic Heritage Month. So why September 15?  Well, this date is significant because it marks the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, and kicks off the festivities, followed by independence celebrations across Latin America from week to week, commemorating each country’s independence.

From the arts and politics, to business, the military, and more, Hispanic and Latino Americans have made, and continue to make incredible contributions as they share their rich culture across all facets of our society. Stay tuned for our upcoming blogs spotlighting local Hispanic organizations and businesses, and our three-part blog series on Hispanics in film and television.

The 2022 theme for Hispanic Heritage Month is "Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation." Each year, the theme is selected by the members of the National Council of Hispanic Employment Program Managers (NCHEPM). The theme is then used nationwide by government agencies, non-profits, and other organizations.” At Broadway Stages we value diversity and promote inclusion of experiences, talents, and cultures. We encourage you to embrace diversity and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in NYC. For a variety of ideas about how you can observe Hispanic heritage, see Oprah Daily for “what to watch, read, eat, and do.” Be on the lookout for ways to celebrate in your local area including the events listed below.
