"Let the Right One In" Series Premiere Coming to Showtime | October 7
Showtime will be celebrating Halloween a few weeks early when "Let the Right One In," its foray into the world of vampires, premieres on October 7. The network is bringing John Ajvide Lindqvist's popular 2004 novel to the small screen, and Broadway Stages is thrilled to be the production partner-of-choice for this popular show.
The novel follows the relationship between a bullied 12-year-old boy and a vampire child in suburban Stockholm in the early 1980s. Showrunner Andrew Hinderaker ("Penny Dreadful") is moving the action to New York and adding additional characters and storylines. Seith Mann, who has directed episodes of "The Wire," "The Walking Dead," and "Homeland," will direct.
Oscar-nominated actor Demián Bichir ("A Better Life") stars as Mark while Madison Taylor Baez plays his daughter Eleanor, who was turned into a vampire 10 years earlier at the age of 12.
In Showtime's website description, Eleanor is described as "seemingly frozen in time at the age of 12" and living "a closed-in life, able to go out only at night, while her father does his best to provide her with the human blood she needs to stay alive." Kevin Carroll, Jacob Buster, Ian Foreman, Anika Noni Rose, and Grace Gummer appear in supporting roles.
Showtime recently released the trailer to much acclaim, and "TV Guide" has named the show one of its most anticipated upcoming releases, based on the success of prior film adaptations. In 2008, the novel was adapted for the big screen in Swedish under its original name, and two years later an English-language version starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee was released under the name "Let Me In."
We are so excited that Showtime is giving us an early Halloween treat! The show will begin streaming on October 7, and new episodes will drop each week, with 10 episodes total airing in its first season. Get the popcorn ready this is going to be good! Check out the trailer below.
