5th Annual Jamaica Bay Festival with NYC Audubon | July 16
Broadway Stages is committed to supporting environmental sustainability in the boroughs in which we operate and across the city. A local organization that shares this core value is the New York City Audubon, a nonprofit that has worked to protect wild birds and habitat in the wetlands, forests, and grasslands across the City’s five boroughs for more than 40 years. Our own Gina Argento (Broadway Stages’ president and CEO) is proud to have recently joined NYC Audubon’s board of directors. This week, we highlight two upcoming festivals where you can join NYC Audubon to learn about and support our local environment.
The Jamaica Bay - Rockaway Parks Conservancy will host the 5th Annual Jamaica Bay Festival in partnership with government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations, including NYC Audubon, along with support from other sponsors.
Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to attend this festival where nature and water enthusiasts can paddle in the kayak parade, see wildlife, learn to fish, and go biking or sailing, while enjoying the beauty of Jamaica Bay and the surrounding community. Go to the Jamaica Bay Festival page for an interactive map of the free, family-friendly events and activities.
Also mark your calendar for the 17th Annual Shorebird Festival at Jamaica Bay on Saturday, August 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join NYC Audubon, American Littoral Society, Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, and Gateway National Recreation Area to explore the diversity of New York City’s shorebirds. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center for a hike to the East Pond with shorebird experts. A registration link will be available at NYC Audubon soon.
