Argento Among Honorees at 42nd Annual NOIAW Luncheon Gala
Last week, the National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW) held their 42nd annual luncheon and our very own Gina Argento was among the trio of honorees. The theme “intermission is over, welcome to the next act,” was perfectly suited given the two year pandemic hiatus and the inspiring women recognized, who, in addition to Argento included Patti LuPone, Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award winning actress and singer; and Angelina Fiordellisi, producer, actor, and Founder and Executive Director of the Cherry Lane Theatre.
The event was memorable and inspiring. From the Italian and United States’ national anthems sung by Eugenia Copeland, a prayer led by Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, an address by the Consul General of Italy to New York, and the Italian Minister of Tourism who welcomed the audience back home for a visit, to the scholarship awards – the enthusiasm and passion in the room made this a day to remember. Broadway Stages is proud to be a part of NOIAW and delighted that Argento was recognized as an Italian American woman leader who is promoting and preserving the cultural legacy of her Italian heritage. We encourage you to learn more about NOIAW and how you can support their programs.
