SPOTLIGHT: Greenpoint Innovations | Brooklyn
Welcome to Broadway Stages’ Spotlight, where we feature local shops, restaurants, organizations, individuals, and venues. We encourage our readers to join us in supporting these stakeholders who help to advance local economic, social and environmental growth.
Happy Earth Day folks! Today we take a moment to offer our thanks and gratitude for the many gifts the Earth provides to us each day. We also take pause to recognize the multitude of individuals and organizations that work to maintain and preserve our beautiful planet for generations to come, including a locally based group that employs a masterful blend or art and technology to raise awareness about the importance of sustainability — Greenpoint Innovations.
A purpose-led organization based in Brooklyn, NY, Greenpoint Innovations serves as a creative hub for ‘art plus purpose’ activations to raise awareness about climate change, sustainable development, and nature-based solutions. Led by principal and founder Stephen Donofrio, the team consists of individuals with multi-sector and multi-disciplinary backgrounds, and a wide range of sustainability expertise. They provide services in research, education, strategy, and production, with the goal of helping others achieve success along the journey to living and operating sustainably. It’s also their belief that sustainability and climate change issues are complex and challenging concepts that can benefit from insightful, innovative, and engaging methods of communications.
Since 2016, Greenpoint Innovations has developed multi-stakeholder activations with a diverse mix of artists to create green street art paired with sustainability and climate change solutions. In 2019, we had the pleasure of working with the folks at Greenpoint Innovations, who facilitated the beautiful mural that adorns our waterfront building at 520 Kingsland Avenue. In September 2019, during the fourth annual Kingsland Wildflowers Festival, the mural, painted by Danielle Mastrion and Lexi Bella, was unveiled. The mural commemorated the launch of Greenpoint Earth, an initiative to illustrate how cities can restore ecosystems and combat climate change through nature based solutions, like Kingsland Wildflowers at Broadway Stages.
Head over to their website to check out some of the beautiful films, videos, and art installations they’ve created throughout the city over the years. Feeling inspired? We encourage you to show them some love with a donation. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram or follow them on YouTube or Vimeo to keep up with upcoming projects and events. Join us in supporting Greenpoint Innovations and mother Earth!
