TCAH Gets $3 Million in Federal Funding
The Campaign Against Hunger received $3 million in funding through the federal government funding law. Secured by Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, the money will serve to fund a permanent community food hub that helps to feed, educate, and employ residents from across the city. TCAH is working to not only end food insecurity, but also break the systemic and interconnected cycle of hunger and poverty in NYC. Watch this News 12 segment to hear what TCAH founder and executive director, Dr. Melony Samuels, has to say about the impact this funding will have on those in need.
During the pandemic, Broadway Stages proudly donated warehouse space to TCAH; the facility served as a temporary food collection and distribution center that enabled TCAH to get food to those in need. Today, TCAH has two permanent distribution centers, one in Queens and the other in Brooklyn, and a set of programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of each individual with the goal of setting them free from reliance on New York’s social service safety net.
