HBO Renews "The Gilded Age" for a Second Season
Will Marian accept Tom’s proposal? What is Peggy hiding? Will Agnes ever accept Pumpkin as a member of the family? Fans of Julian Fellowes’ “The Gilded Age” will hopefully get answers to these questions and more now that HBO is bringing the popular show back for a second season.
Set in 1882, “The Gilded Age” features an ensemble cast led by Louisa Jacobson as Marian Brook, a young woman who moves from rural Pennsylvania to New York City to live with her old-money aunts Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Cynthia Nixon) following her father’s death. She befriends aspiring writer Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) during her travels, and the two find themselves in the middle of a war between the nouveau riche and old-money aristocrats. Ruthless railroad tycoon George Russell (Morgan Spector) and his wife Bertha (Carrie Coon) build a massive mansion across the street and seek to find their place in high society, much to Agnes’ dismay.
The show’s creative team spared no expense designing the lavish sets and costumes to recreate this decadent era in American history. Filming is primarily in three locations: Newport, Rhode Island; Troy, New York; and of course New York City. The beautiful interior of the van Rhijn/Brook househould was created at one of our facilities, transforming our soundstage into a magnificent 19th century mansion. We are thrilled that the cast and crew will be returning for another season.
Tune in to HBO on Monday nights for new episodes, and check out the season one finale on March 21.
