We are super proud of all the amazing productions being filmed at our facilities, the role they play in elevating New York's film and television industry and our local economy. Here are few updates on some of the shows that call Broadway Stages home.

"The Girls on the Bus" Coming to HBO Max

We are excited to report that a new political drama filming is filmig at our faciities. "The Girls on the Bus" is an upcoming HBO Max series about four female journalists who uncover a scandal that could take down the presidency and threaten democracy itself.

Melissa Benoist ("Supergirl") stars as Sadie McCarthy, a young journalist who seeks to cover a presidential campaign like the reporters in Tim Crouse's 1973 non-fiction book "The Boys on the Bus." Carla Gugino ("The Haunting of Hill House"), Natasha Behnam ("Blake & Emily Get Famous"), and Christina Elmore ("Insecure") play the three women McCarthy meets and befriends on the campaign trail.

Mark Consuelos ("Riverdale") will play a recurring role as a former Hollywood action star who joins the presidential race after polling positively on Twitter. Other stars include Scott Foley ("Scandal"), Brandon Scott ("Dead to Me"), Griffin Dunne ("This Is Us"), Leslie Fray ("Reacher"), and Tala Ashe ("DC's Legends of Tomorrow").

The series draws inspiration from a chapter in New York Times journalist Amy Chozick's 2018 book "Chasing Hillary," about her decade spent reporting on Hillary Clinton's multiple presidential campaigns. Chozick developed the series alongside Julie Plec, who has written and directed episodes of "Vampire Academy," "The Vampire Diaries," and "Legacies." Both women serve as executive producers.

No word yet on when the show will premiere, but we are thrilled to welcome the cast and crew to the Broadway Stages family!

Jennifer Lawrence Filming "No Hard Feelings"

At Broadway Stages, we provide studio space for both television and film productions. Over the past year, we have been involved in several major motion pictures, including "Fire Island" and "Spoiler Alert," and we are delighted that our facilities are home to the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence R-rated comedy "No Hard Feelings."

In the coming-of-age film, the Academy Award-winning actress plays a woman who responds to a Craigslist ad posted by a mother who wants her teenage son to go on a date before he leaves for college. Andrew Barth Feldman (Broadway's "Dear Evan Hansen") co-stars as the high schooler set up by his mother, Laura Benanti ("Life & Beth"). Matthew Broderick, Hasan Minhaj, Natalie Morales, Scott MacArthur, Kyle Mooney, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach are also part of the cast.

Gene Stupnitsky and John Phillips are co-writing the film, with Stupnitsky also directing. Stupnitsky spent several seasons as a writer and director on NBC's "The Office" before co-writing 2011's "Bad Teacher" and directing and co-writing 2019's "Good Boys." Phillips wrote the 2016 film "Dirty Grandpa."

Lawrence isn't just the film's star – she is also producing the movie through her company Excellent Cadaver. "No Hard Feelings" is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2023.

"East New York" Tops Ratings Among New Shows

CBS's newest police procedural "East New York" is the season's top-rated new series among adults 18-49, according to Nielsen returns. Additionally, reviews are positive from both critics and viewers.

Airing Sunday nights, "East New York" stars Amanda Warren ("The Leftovers") as Regina Haywood, the recently promoted commanding officer of New York's 74th Precinct. She leads a diverse group of officers and detectives in serving and protecting a poverty-stricken Brooklyn neighborhood that is experiencing social upheaval as it enters the early stages of gentrification. Jimmy Smits ("NYPD Blue") co-stars as Chief John Suarez, Ruben Santiago-Hudson ("Castle") plays officer Marvin Sandeford, and Richard Kind ("Mad About You") portrays the captain, Stan Yenko. Olivia Luccardi, Lavel Schley, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Kevin Rankin round out the cast of series regulars.

The first season of "East New York" filmed at our facilities in Brooklyn.  We are proud of its success and are hoping for more seasons to come!

"Godfather of Harlem" Returning for a Third Season on January 1

"Godfather of Harlem" will return to Epix (soon to be rebranded as MGM+) in January after a lengthy hiatus. Season two finished up in August 2021 and was EPIX's best performing season of all time. The series broke records for any single title streams in a single day across EPIX's digital platforms, and the season two finale was EPIX's best performing finale episode to date. Fans have waited a long time for new episodes, and we are happy to have played our part in the production process.

Oscar winner Forest Whitaker ("The Last King of Scotland") will return as notorious real-life crime boss Bumpy Johnson, who spent 11 years at Alcatraz then returned home in the early 1960s to find the neighborhood he once ruled controlled by the Italian mob. In season three, Bumpy will continue to battle for control of Harlem, this time butting heads with the Cuban Mafia from neighboring Spanish Harlem. This rivalry will put Bumpy, his loved ones, and his community in the crosshairs of ruthless Latin assassins and ultimately the CIA.

Season three will include a few new faces: Jason Alan Carvell ("NCIS: New Orleans") will take over the role of Malcolm X, who was previously portrayed by Nigél Thatch. Michael Raymond-James will play real-life Italian mob boss Joe Colombo.

Ilfenesh Hadera and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy will return as Bumpy's wife and daughter, respectively. Other cast members include Vincent D'Onofrio as Vincent "The Chin" Gigante (who later became boss of the Genovese crime family), Lucy Fry as Gigante's daughter Stella, and Giancarlo Esposito as Congressman Adam Clayton Powell.

Mark your calendars for January 15 to see the season premiere. New episodes will drop each week on MGM+, with the 10th episode season finale scheduled to air on March 19.

“Billions” A Surprise Return Awaits Fans

There are rumors that Bobby Axelrod, played by Damian Lewis, might make a surprise return to “Billions.” Lewis left the popular show at the end of season 5, which coincided with the tragic death of his wife Helen McCrory. In his last episode, titled No Direction Home, he had lost all his companies to rival billionaire Michael Prince, played by Corey Stoll. We can’t wait to see what comes next for Axe. "Blue Bloods" Bringing Back Beloved Guest Star

Erika Slezak will reprise her role as Donna Duvall, neighbor of Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), on "Blue Bloods" later this season. She was last seen in the 2019 season nine episode "Identity," when her drug-addicted granddaughter stole a package from Henry's porch. Slezak is a winner of six Daytime Emmy Awards for her role as Viki Lord in "One Life to Live."

"Blue Bloods," a drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement, remains popular in its 13th season. The show has aired Friday nights on CBS since 2010, and last month's season premiere attracted 6.4 million viewers. Broadway Stages is honored to be the studio production company partner-of-choice of such a long-running and popular show.
