Showtime Announces Return Date for "Billions"
It has been over a year since fans of Showtime’s popular drama “Billions” enjoyed a new episode. Well, the wait is almost over and we can’t wait to see what Axe and Chuck were up to during the pandemic.
In the spring of 2020, Showtime aired the first seven episodes of the fifth season, which were filmed before the pandemic halted production with five episodes remaining. Earlier this year, the cast and crew returned to Broadway Stages to finish filming the season, and their hard work will pay off when the show finally returns on September 5.
As we reported several months ago, there will be at least one addition to the cast when “Billions” returns. Janeane Garofalo will appear in a recurring role as the owner of a legal cannabis corporation.
“Billions” follows shrewd billionaire hedge fund manager Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (Damian Lewis) as he tries to steer clear of the law while growing his firm’s wealth. Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti), the brash, immoral New York Attorney General, follows Axe’s every move, as he seeks to be seen as a leader in the fight against financial corruption in America.
When we last saw Axe in episode seven, his war with rival investor Mike Prince (Corey Stoll) was heating up. Chuck was refocusing his attention on securing a kidney transplant for his father, through whatever means necessary. Showtime has ordered a sixth season of “Billions” and we cannot wait to see what happens next. Take a look at the official trailer for Season 5 Part 2 featuring Mike Prince and Giamatti’s Chuck Rhoades as they form an alliance to bring down Bobby Axelrod once and for all. Mark your calendar for September 5 and prepare to be entertained.
