We are Nature Performance Series Wrap’s up Climate Week NYC 2020
Greenpoint was treated to an amazing two part dance performance on Broadway Stages’ rooftops in Greenpoint. The series was a co-production by NOoSPHERE Arts and CreateART and sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC).
The first event was held on September 13 – AIR: a site-specific dance piece inspired by bird migration performed by Kelly Ashton Todd with live music by Christiaan van Voorst van Beest; opening & closing ceremonies by Sparrowhawk and Lady Kabbaz. The theme introduction was provided by Fritjof Capra, well-known scientist, author, educator and activist. The second event held on September 27 – WATER: a site-specific dance piece inspired by Newton Creek performed by Kizuna Dance with live music by Katy Gunn, was an official Climate Week NYC event. Both events were streamed online, and a limited audience was treated to the live performances, albeit socially distanced in order to comply with pandemic safety guidelines. If you missed these events you can view photos from AIR on Facebook and watch the performance of WATER now and experience this artistic performance for yourself.
Broadway Stages remains eternally grateful to Sol Kjøk, Director NOoSPHERE Arts, virtual artist (and so much more), for her fortitude and commitment to the arts and environmental sustainability. We thank you for your continued dedication to community and for bringing artists and art from around the world to Greenpoint.
