Business Spotlight | Queens Botanical Garden
This week’s Business Spotlight takes us to one of the most beautiful locations in the City, Queens Botanical Garden (QBG), an urban oasis where people, plants, and cultures are celebrated through inspiring gardens, innovative educational programs, and real-world applications of environmental stewardship.
Located at the northeast corner of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Flushing, QBG evolved from the five-acre “Gardens on Parade” exhibit showcased at the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair. Today QBG is a 39-acre oasis in one of New York City’s most bustling and diverse neighborhoods.
QBG is now open but with limited operating hours and they ask that you please check their website before planning a visit. Like other businesses and organizations across our City, QBG is following CDC guidelines and state health requirements to keep their staff and visitors safe from the coronavirus. A mask or face covering is required and a 6-foot distance from others must be adhered to while visiting the Garden. Masks are available for purchase at the Garden entrances and hand sanitizer dispensers are available at multiple stations throughout the Garden.
QBG offers distance and live events including group programs, workshops and tours for all ages, teacher learning resources, kids programs for ages 4 – 12, and QBG at home that offers a vast array of nature- and garden-inspired content. There is something for everyone at QBG. Be sure to check them out online, plan a ‘safe’ visit, become a member or even make a donation. Be sure to tell them that Broadway Stages sent you.
