NYC Together Enjoys a Day at STREB and Movie Tickets from Broadway Stages
NYC Together is a non-profit organization that focuses on positive informal police/community interaction. The program, in partnership with the NYPD 90th Precinct and local public high schools, offers police officers the opportunity to work with young people from their communities as peers, collaborators, and mentors. Founded by Dana Rachlin who also serves the executive director, NYC Together provides an opportunity for students of color and NYC police officers to support one another in collaborative efforts to increase civic engagement, foster leadership and strengthen communities.
Recently a group from the program were treated to an interactive audience performance at STREB, an organization led by Elizabeth Streb that creates opportunities for artistic discovery and connection for a constituency whose diversity represents the breadth and complexity of society at large. Based on what STREB calls Extreme Action, the performances are both exhilarating and inspiring. Take a look at what STREB has to offer and consider a class or a performance. The NYC Together students had a blast, tried new and exciting activities, and definitely burned some calories, as you can see in the photo gallery below. Broadway Stages is excited to support organizations that strengthen our communities, build bridges, trust and inspire. As a token of our appreciation we were happy to provide the NYC Together students with a movie ticket gift card they can use with friends or family — perfect for the holiday.
